GPSR, Safety Warnings andd Product Care Instructions

At Fractured Lace, we take our product safety seriously and have only ever worked with reputable suppliers for the base materials we use for our products. We are still currently sourcing suppliers who can provide all of the relevant testing documents to bring our full range to the EU again – in the meantime, we are able to provide brooches that are fully compliant with EU regulations, and we are confident in the safety of our full range for all customers (even if we can’t send some pieces to the EU at the moment) as we only use reputable suppliers.

Safety warnings, care instructions and cleaning instructions are all listed below.

Product Description

Fractured Lace jewellery include wearable accessories such as brooches and pins, necklaces and pendants, earrings, charms, rings, button covers and other external decorative adornments. These items include elements constructed from base metals such as brass, stainless steel, and mixed metal alloys. The jewellery prominently features decorative elements made from acrylic, resin, or other non-metallic materials. It is intended for adult use only.

Applicable Regulations

  • General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) 2023/988
  • REACH Regulation (1907/2006)
  • Product packaging complies with Directive 94/62/EC

Testing and Traceability

Fractured Lace maintains records of all components used in the manufacture of their pieces, and are able to trace the individual components back to individual suppliers and manufacturers. Fractured Lace only works with reputable suppliers who maintain a high standard of safety for their products.

Fractured Lace regularly follows up with suppliers for applicable testing documents for nickel release, cadmium content and lead content to ensure REACH and other regulation requirements (as required), and keeps a record of material safety data sheets on elements that do not require specific testing to ensure that they are meeting relevant safety standards.

Products are primarily produced by pre-order process, and are therefore generally produced in a single larger batch. First instances of any product form the initial batch, and subsequent releases will be marked as such with order packaging, to ensure traceability is maintained.

Safety Warnings

  • Fractured Lace jewelry is not a toy, and is not suitable for children under 12 years old. Please keep out of reach of children due to small parts and potential choking hazards.
  • Never place jewelry in mouth.
  • Do not wear in extreme conditions or expose the pieces to extreme high or low temperatures.
  • Remove when showering, exercising, performing strenuous tasks or sleeping.
  • If allergic reaction is experienced, cease use immediately.
  • Chains on necklaces may pose a strangulation hazard if they get entangled/caught on other objects or grabbed and pulled by children or others. Please avoid wearing your pieces in situations where this may be possible.
  • Take care when pinning and unpinning brooches and pins, as the sharp point may puncture the skin if mishandled. Ensure roller clasp is securely fastened when worn, to avoid accidental detachment.
  • If the product breaks because it has been dropped or is otherwise damaged by accident, the acrylic may produce a sharp edge which could cause injury if mishandled. Take care when cleaning up the pieces. Loose pieces may be a choking hazard.
  • If roller-clasp detaches at any point, take care to find the detached piece immediately and restore it to the pin clasp by pressing it lightly back in place with a pair of pliers (or dispose of piece) to avoid this small loose component posing a choking hazard.

Care Instructions

  • Avoid direct contact with moisture, alcohol, perfumes, cosmetics, hairspray, household cleaners and other chemicals, as these may leave residue and/or damage your piece.
  • Store away from direct sunlight when unworn. Store your piece in a soft-lined box or pouch to avoid scratches if possible.

Cleaning Instructions

Polish gently with a microfiber cloth to buff away fingerprints or other light markings picked up from regular use. Avoid rubbing, firm pressure or use of abrasives, especially across painted areas, as this may damage the piece and cause scratches to the acrylic.
